This past spring Bob was down to pick up a bus and a trailer and some packrafts… So I took a couple of days off work to roll with him and shuttle trailers…we were rolling to Edmonton with a trailer, telling stories and discussing life…we had just passed Red Deer when I looked to my left and there was an RCMP with lights and sirens trying to pull us over… so I pulled over… and Bob said with a smile “Oops… we forgot to put the plate on the trailer 🙂”
The RCMP, a Member of the Integrated Traffic Unit, came walking up and asked “Do you know why I pulled you over?” We replied “Yes sorry we forgot to put the plate on the trailer.” He then asked, “What do you Guys do for a living?” I think he thought we were commercial hotshotters… I replied “Sorry, I am actually a Member of the RCMP.” He looked at me and shook his head and walked back to his patrol car.
The Member returned with a ticket… a WARNING TICKET and said “Ok get a plate on this as soon as possible and if you are stopped again show them this warning ticket.” We chatted a little more with him about the Yukon, and he said he had always wanted to work there but his wife wouldn’t move. He wished us safe travels and off he went.
As we were rolling away Bob looked at me with a big grin and said “It is always good to travel with you Cops!” Bob and I laughed hard 😀
